Making his debut in Dubai, Andy has impressed, capturing the title. After defeating the world numbers 2 (Nadal) and 3 (Novak) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, Andy overcame an inspired Feliciano Lopez in the final. The final result was 6-7(8), 6-4, 6-2.Andy set serving records for the Dubai tournament earlier in the week, and Saturday’s final was another serving fest, with both players serving over 20 aces.
One of the most impressive facts of the tournament though, is that Andy went through the week without losing his serve. He held serve for 55 consecutive service games.Lopez played his part in the final, and presented many troubles for Andy with some effective serve and volleying. With both players serving immensely, the first set had tie break written all over it. Andy had two break point chances at 4-3, but Lopez upped his game and there were no more opportunities for either player to break serve.
