The New Wimbledon Champion

After Spain claimed the Euro 2008, it's Rafael Nadal's (also from Spain) turn to claim his first title in Wimbledon. He also ended Federer domination who is on his way to create history to become the first man to win sixth consecutive championships.

The Champion and the runner-up
I've watched their first three match with Nadal leading 2-0 and Federer leading 5-4 in the third set when they suspended the match due to heavy rain. I gave up and retired for the night. But I hoped Nadal would win :)

what a relief!
Came in to the office this morning, first thing first, I checked the internet. And it was Nadal happy face all over. He beats Federer 6-4, 6-4, 6-7, 6-7, 9-7. By the look of it, it was definitely a tough match for both of them. And like I said in my last posting, "Let the best man wins!". Nadal played a fantastic tennis. I'm gonna watch the repeat especially the decider set.

No pain, no gain
Nadal should thank the rain, the wind and the darkness, coz Federer blamed the Mother Nature for his lost. When you are lost, it's easier to blame to anyone or to anything hahaha

Congrats Rafael Nadal!

Venus with her Championship Trophy with Serena the runner-up

The Williams Sisters with their winning Trophies in Women's Doubles

This is truly amazing. After Venus beat her sister Serena in Women's singles 7-5, 6-4 they paired up to beat Lisa Raymond of the USA and Samantha Stosur of Australia, 6-2, 6-2 in Women's Doubles. It was their third Wimbledon Doubles Title.

Tonight, we will watch Federer against Nadal in Men's Singles Finals. Federer is determine to make it a sixth and a first for Nadal. Let the best man wins!

It will be All-Williams final this coming Saturday. And this will be their third wimbledon final with Serena winning both. This is also their first final at any tournament since 2003.

In the semi-finals, Venus beat the fifth seeded Elena Dementieva, 6-1, 7-6. And Serena beat 133rd ranked Zheng Jie of China, 6-2, 7-6.

Meanwhile, in Men's Singles semi-finals tonight:

Rafael Nadal vs Rainer Schuettler

I enjoyed watching Jie Zheng playing against Nicole Vaidisova last night. They went to a decider set which saw Jie Zheng won the game, 6-2, 5-7, 6-1. She is set to play against Serena Williams in the semi-finals. All the best to her.

Meanwhile, Tamarine Tanasugarn of Thailand, gave a good fight on Venus Williams. But Venus being more experienced and who is also the defending champion here, won the game 6-4, 6-3.

In the semi-finals, Venus will play against Elena Dementieva who beat her compatriot Nadia Petrova, 6-1, 6-7, 6-3.

Who do you want see in the finals? I love to see Jie Zheng with Venus Williams. But actually, whoever in the finals should be okay with me coz I like all the semi-finalists.

Latest casualties in Wimbledon were 3rd ranked Jelena Jankovic and no. 4 Svetlana Kuznetsova. Jankovic was defeated by another Asian, Tamarine Tanasugarn who is from Thailand. This means, all top 4 players were out of Wimbledon. The remaining top 10 are, Elena Dementieva (5), Serena Williams (6) and Venus Williams (7). As for men's singles, out of top 10 ranked players, only Roger Federer (1) and Rafael Nadal (2) remain in the competition.

This is the most shocking Wimbledon history. All top players were ousted. Could we have unseeded player to win the championship this year? We will find out soon.

In the meantime, Jie Zheng of China survived 4th round by defeating Agnes Szavay (15).
My summary:
1Ana Ivanovic - defeated by Jie Zheng (3rd Round)
2Maria Sharapova - defeated by Alla Kudryavtseva (2nd Round)
3Jelena Jankovic - defeated by Tamarine Tanasugarn (4th Round)
4Svetlana Kuznetsova - defeated by Agnieszka Radwanska (4th Round)
5Elena Dementieva

9Dinara Safina - defeated by Shahar Peer (3rd Round)
10Marion Bartoli - defeated by Bethanie Mattek (3rd Round)

I had a mixed feelings watching tennis last night. I am a fan of Ana Ivanovic but at the same time, I can't help but to enjoy watching the 133rd ranked Jie Zheng of China. Meaning, she's representing Asian and I'm always supporting whoever from here, Asian. Jie Zheng who is from Sichuan province, stunned the new world no. 1 by beating her 6-1, 6-4.

And you know what, she was so humble that she didn't made any gestures like pumping her fists or lie down on the grass. She didn't even scream or squeal like other players. She just smiled to the audience. Good job there Jie Zheng!

On the other women's single, Serena Williams has no difficulty in defeating Amelie Mauresmo, 7-6, 6-1.

Germany

VS

Spain

The final will be held on 30 June 2008, 2.45 am at Ernst Happel, Vienna stadium. Since I'm not a Germany fan, I pick Spain to win! Anyone agree with me? :)

meanwhile...

Ohh dear! My favourite is out from Wimbledon. On 2nd round lagi tu! 6th seeded Andy Roddick lost to Serbian Janko Tipsarevic who is currently ranked 40th (7-6, 5-7, 4-6, 6-7)

3rd seeded Maria Sharapova also lost to her compatriot Alla Kudryavtseva, ranked 154th on a straight set 2-6, 4-6. I am Ana Ivanovic's fan, so I don't really care :)

What a relief for Ana! I was like holding my breath watching her playing against Dechy at 3rd set. Nathalie Dechy of France gave a tough fight. Ivanovic won 6-7, 7-6, 10-8.

As for Men's Singles, Marat Safin sent world no. 3 Novak Djokovic home. Safin won 6-4, 7-6, 6-2.

Rafael Nadal won again in Roland Garros by beating Roger Federer 6-1, 6-3, 6-0. It's his fourth consecutive French Open title to match with Bjorn Borg.

And this is my first time watching Federer didn't win a point in the third set. It shouldn't happen to a world no. 1! But what can I say, Nadal dominating the game. It was an astounding tennis from Nadal. I really enjoy watching the finals.

Now the French Open is over. We will meet again in Wimbledon. In the meantime, let's watch Euro 2008.

Let's watch Men's Final tomorrow. It will be between Roger Federer and Rafael Nadal. This will be their third straight finals with Nadal winning the previous two.

In the meantime, tennis new world no. 1, Maria Sharapova is out from the French Open 2008. She lost to Dinara Safina (world no. 14) also from Russia, 7-6, 6-7, 2-6.

Huda, please don't be sad. Ana Ivanovic (world no. 2) is still there. And who knows, Ana might take the new title as world number 1. Go Ana! you can do it! source

Making his debut in Dubai, Andy has impressed, capturing the title. After defeating the world numbers 2 (Nadal) and 3 (Novak) in the quarterfinals and semifinals, Andy overcame an inspired Feliciano Lopez in the final. The final result was 6-7(8), 6-4, 6-2.Andy set serving records for the Dubai tournament earlier in the week, and Saturday’s final was another serving fest, with both players serving over 20 aces.

One of the most impressive facts of the tournament though, is that Andy went through the week without losing his serve. He held serve for 55 consecutive service games.Lopez played his part in the final, and presented many troubles for Andy with some effective serve and volleying. With both players serving immensely, the first set had tie break written all over it. Andy had two break point chances at 4-3, but Lopez upped his game and there were no more opportunities for either player to break serve.

My picked for Philly's audition

the weirdest contestant so far

The American Idol season 7 premiered last night. It was a two hours audition done in Philadelphia. I had picked one or two contestants who has the potential. But even so, I'll wait for the other auditions. They had given 29 tickets to Hollywood on this audition. Can't wait for the next one!

I didn't concentrate watching the American Idol coz Andy Roddick was playing against Michael Berrer of Germany on the other channel of the Australian Open 2008. Of course I stayed on this channel and watched Roddick's game. He won 6-2, 6-2, 6-4. And he is the leader of serve speed on day 2 when he served a 235km/h. He will meet another German player, Philipp Kohlschreiber (29) in third round.

In Women's singles, Henin, Sharapova, Serena, Amelie, Sugiyama to name a few cruise to the third round.

Justine Henin (1) claimed the title by beating Svetlana Kuznetsova (4), 6-1, 6-3
